Dacoda VanVleet has been a Rockford Police Department officer since January 2019.
On January 16th, 2021, VanVleet was assigned to oversee City of Rockford Code Enforcement workers tearing down the memorials of victims of police terrorism in Say Their Name Square.
On October 4th, 2024, VanVleet was a part of a team of Rockford police officers that were called to respond to a protest outside of the Underground Art Gallery across from Rockford’s City Hall. The action was organized by Rockford for Palestine and it centered around the owner of the art gallery, Roni Golan, an Israeli Zionist that served in the IDF.
Roni and his wife, Ronit, have been very vocal in support of the genocide of Palestinians and organized counter protests to RFP events.
Rockford police officers gave out noise citations to the protestors using megaphones and drums.
