Jeremiah Cizerle has been a Rockford Police officer since September 2006.
He was initially assigned to the field services bureau & patrol.
Cizerle has been a long-time SCOPE officer at least 2018-2024.
In 2023, he was promoted to investigator. He is now a member of the RPD recruitment team.
On Cizerle was promoted to sergeant serving District 2 under lieutenant Jason Dobran.
On October 11th, 2012, officers Andre Brass, Phillip Statler, and Jeremiah Cizerle responded to a 911 call by a family member of 18-year-old Logan Bell. The family member worried about Logan’s current mental state, citing a mental illness Logan suffered. They feared Logan was potentially a threat to himself and warned police officers that Logan Bell had a BB gun.
Brass, Statler, and Cizerle chased Logan Bell out of the house, eventually ending up in a field.
Logan faced the three officers and allegedly fired his BB gun once in the direction of Brass. Brass was not hit, but fell to the ground.
Cizerle and Statler shot Logan Bell sixteen times. They continued shooting as Logan Bell fell to the ground.
This case was the fourth case investigated and fourth case justified by the Winnebago Boone County Integrity Task Force.
As a SCOPE officer, Cizerle has been assigned to work multiple City Market Protests since 2020.
On July 31st, 2020, during the First Arrest Week, Cizerle assisted in the arrest of protesters as seen in the photo above.
On August 7th, 2020, Cizerle and the rest of the SCOPE made up Rockford police arrest teams. They met with then Assistant Deputy Chief Carla Redd before the in multiple arrests of protestors.
On June 25th, 2021, Cizerle, who was regularly assigned to work the perimeters of City Market, arrested a protester on a warrant right before the scheduled City Market.
