The Killing of Bradley Thompkins

On May 28th, 2022, Bradley Thompkins went to the new Rockford Casino.

Brad Thompkins was a father, and Rockford native. While at the Casino, it is alleged that he had several drinks and was removed from the bar by an off duty Winnebago County deputy working at the casino.

A 911 call was made after Brad left the building and held a gun to his own head.

Sheriff deputy Tomasz Wysocki was the first to respond to the 911 call and pulled over the vehicle Brad was driving. He immediately got out of the vehicle and held his gun to his head.

Several Winnebago County Sheriff deputies and Rockford Police officers began arriving to the scene.

Over the next several minutes Brad mostly held his gun to his own head. At one point, he raised his arm straight in the air and fired one shot. He immediately turned the gun back to his head for several more minutes.

Brad slumped his head before turning and raising his gun towards police officers.

In two seconds, officers began firing. It was reported officers Dion Embrey, Jordan Black and deputy Giorgi Arbisi are three officers that fired their guns. They continued to shoot as Bradley Thompkins fell, and laid on the ground.

This was the twenty-seventh case investigated and justified by the Winnebago Boone County Integrity Task Force.
